Read on to find out what these 10 movies are about and why they’re worth checking out. Plus, at the end of the article, we’ll show you some must-see movies from 2020 that are still available in theaters near you!

1. The King of Horror

First on the list is the long-awaited adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower. It was first announced way back in 2009 when it was known as The Gunslinger. King wrote the novel over 35 years ago, and the adaptation has been in the works for years now. Now the project is finally coming together.

The story follows a troubled gunslinger and his apprentice who must venture into a universe of magic and monsters in order to save the world. A new adaptation was announced back in February, with The Walking Dead actor, Danish actor and martial arts expert Nikolaj Coster-Waldau cast as Roland Deschain.

2. A Spooky Tale About a Ghost

Although you’ve probably already heard about it, it’s worth highlighting that Fox’s The Predator has an April 10th, 2020 release date. This movie isn’t about aliens or zombies or clowns or any of that nonsense. Instead, it’s about a group of paranormal investigators who are tricked into a deadly trap.

They’re about to meet a member of their own kind, but they’re not expecting to find one that’s anything like they’ve dealt with before. In fact, the members of this other species are not human. You can read more about this exciting new film right here.

3. The Apocalypse is Here

This apocalyptic movie is about a writer who goes to investigate a new drug that will cause people to lose their free will. He believes that the drug is real, but he’s wrong. You can check out the synopsis here, and watch the official trailer below!

Many folks are familiar with the Stephen King story, but few know the origin story of the drug itself. That’s what this movie explores. You can find out more information about the movie here.

4. A Nightmare from the Past

Mystery and terror unfold when a strange family moves into the old Benjamin family home in the small town of Mount Rainier. The family has five children and they are not nice to each other. When one of the children’s head goes missing in a Halloween-themed house-to-house scavenger hunt, the parents start asking the hard questions, making life a living nightmare for the family. This game of survival looks like it will keep you up late into the night.

5. A New Horror from up North

Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the genre-defining 1996 cult classic A Nightmare on Elm Street, and to celebrate, there will be a remake of the movie. Since the remake was announced in 2016, we have had a look at the original movie and everything else we know about the reboot so far.

To be clear, all of the details that have been released are just rumors. But it is safe to assume that the remake will pick up right where the first movie left off. The only information we know for sure so far is that the remake will include all of the original characters and will be set in a small suburban community. So the entire Elm Street franchise is returning! We also know that the remake will start filming in New Zealand.

6. The Conjuring 4

This movie is expected to be released in July 2021. And it’s about time! After the last installment came out in 2016, horror movie fans were clamoring for the next film.

Why should you be excited for The Conjuring 4? Well, this will be the first film in the franchise to take place outside of Rhode Island. Director James Wan will return to helm this next installment, which will follow a couple, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who are based out of New York City.

A little research will show you that New York City is synonymous with spooky happenings, so it’s basically guaranteed that the events of The Conjuring 4 will be terrifying.

7. Halloween 3

When it comes to sequels, one of the hardest things to get right is the follow-up to a big hit. In the case of Halloween, getting that follow-up right was difficult enough. When the first movie came out in 1978, it was groundbreaking, surprising audiences by focusing on one character and having the entire story play out without showing the killer.

As it became a series, it became more and more obvious that the story of Michael Myers was going to be the star of the movies, but the series is still at its best when it focuses on one character and one murderous night.

The original Halloween is such a classic, that no sequel will ever be able to match it.

8. Annabelle 3

Starring: Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Lulu Wilson, Philippa Coulthard, Lou Taylor Pucci

It might feel like the last time we saw Annabelle was in The Conjuring 2. In reality, she didn’t go away for long! Director David F. Sandberg is returning to direct the third installment in the Annabelle series. The movie is set ten years after the first Annabelle movie with Annabelle “attending a Catholic school for the deaf.”

9. A Quiet Place
